The term RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag is the centerpiece of any RFIDsystem. The RFID tag is a microchip attached to an antenna that sends data to an RFID reader. The RFID tag contains a unique serial number, and could also contain additional data. RFID tags can be active, passive, or semi-passive tags and crucial to any RFID-based tracking system.
